The ADCA offers a knowledge base with information about all kinds of topics. The knowledge base is accessible for both affiliates and the general public. Furthermore, we offer tools to locate data centers (for example, the data center map). By combining our knowledge with those of our partners, we are able to provide our participants relevant insights and resources.

White Paper: African Climate & Datacenter PUE

This White Paper is based on a survey performed by the African Data centres Association (ADCA) during summertime 2020 and with the most importants Datacenters providers in Africa. As you will discover, even if the number of Datacenters is still limited in Africa, the Continent proves that despite the non conducive climate, there is no obstacle to develop local IT infrastructures.

The survey results has been analyzed by the energy specialists from Cap DC (Cap Ingelec group), an engineering company specialized in Datacenter design&build and operating in Africa from 5 branches.

White Paper: African Data Centre Landscape

Africa has the potential to create huge demand for data centres. However, to-date only a small portion of the potential demand for African data centre space has been met. This is due to the challenges of the African data centre industry. In this report, emphasis is placed on challenges associated with power and cooling alongside areas of opportunities for investors to step in and help close these gaps.

White Paper: Improve Energy Efficiency of Africa Data-center and Reduce
Cost Of Operations

Computers are now an integral part of people’s lives in Africa. Massive computational power and data storage, combined with global networking, has facilitated enormous improvements in living standards, including everything from medical science breakthroughs, disaster preparedness to online banking, education of poor people in remote areas to instant access to music and videos.

Powering this information and product exchanges are data centers, which house millions computer servers in the Africa and 20 million worldwide. Operating these devices – running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – requires significant amounts of electricity.

In this white paper we will be discussing the energy and cost efficiency in African data centres.

White Paper: Business Continuity

Africa has started its own journey fighting the COVID-19 illness. The continent has some key advantages regarding the current pandemic such as the world’s youngest population and recent experience with epidemics. However, there are challenges too.

It is important that the formal and informal economies can keep functioning, whilst maintaining social distancing. The solution relies on digital tools and ecosystems, all of which are underpinned by data centre infrastructure.

Read more on how the African data centre infrastructure can guarantee business continuity for the continent in this white paper.

To show that Africa’s data centre and cloud services era has begun, the ADCA publishes the first edition of the ‘State of the African Data Centre Market’.

With 85 data centre operators in 54 African countries a population of 1.3 billion, there is huge opportunity for data centre business in Africa. The market has entered a phase of accelerated growth; available supply is expected to double in 2020 from 2019, driven by increased demand for hosting space.
