PAIX Data Centres and NSIA Technologies to form joint venture for carrier neutral data centres in Abidjan and Dakar

JOHANNESBURG, 28 May 2018 – PAIX Data Centres, a Pan-African provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced that it agreed terms with NSIA Technologies to jointly develop and operate carrier neutral datacentres under the PAIX brand in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and Dakar, Senegal.

NSIA Technologies, is a key technology services provider in West Africa’s information technology, communications and the leading carrier-neutral data centre in Côte d’Ivoire ISO 27001 – Information Security certified. The company has been offering “secured” co-location, Cloud and Managed Services from its Abidjan data centre since 2013. The joint venture will acquire NSIA Technologies’ existing Abidjan data centre as well as develop a second data centre in Dakar, Senegal. The scope of the joint-venture will cover the member countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), comprising Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. The joint venture will invest further in the Abidjan data centre and offer colocation services to a diversified customer portfolio such as telecom companies, internet service providers (ISPs), and financial institutions. The facility will have the advantage of access to all key fibre networks in Abidjan.

PAIX’s investment in the joint-venture with NSIA Technologies marks the further expansion of its colocation services in West Africa, after its recent investment in RackAfrica in Accra, Ghana earlier this year. PAIX Data Centres continues its investment and expansion strategy of building a Pan-African data centre platform. The joint venture will allow NSIA Technologies to focus on its core IT services business, whilst the new datacentre business will facilitate the growing demand for colocation and interconnection services in the region. Further expansion of the facility capacity is planned to meet increasing demand.
